From the very beginning, KreatureKid helped bring the world of Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls to life. Starting with collaborating with writer director Andrew Bowser in concept design for the original characters, to crafting each puppet, all the way through performing with the puppets on set, the team made sure to carefully and precisely create a world of monsters, ghouls, demons and more for this hilarious horror comedy thrill ride.

Created at age 12, thanks to his lifelong love of The Creature From the Black Lagoon, Adam Dougherty created the mask that would later be modified into Uncle Gilbert. That mask was painted to match the costuming and graced the screen two decades after being made in Rob Zombie’s The Munsters to bring Uncle Gilbert back to the big screen.

Fitting the alternate reality of the Watchmen universe, KreatureKid handcrafted a series of marionettes being puppeteered in episode 7 of the hit HBO series - “An Almost Religious Awe”, leaving a feeling of unsettling whimsy over the visage of the larger than life Dr. Manhattan and the miniscule foot soldiers before him.

Digitally designing a pack of dreadful dogs for StudioADI , these 3D printed and hand painted beasts graced the screen thanks in part to Adam Dougherty’s work on The Predator (2018) directed by Shane Black. Additionally to these frightful hellhounds, Dougherty helped sculpt and paint the full suit worn by the title character that brought extraterrestrial fear to a new generation of Predator fans.

This large beast of a set piece was one of the largest pieces Adam Dougherty helped to create. From sculpture to set, Adam worked tirelessly on crafting this massive endeavor along with the team at StudioADI - traditionally sculpting the reference maquette then crafting the beast in the studio. All 55 feet of this fallen stegosaurus from 2015’s Jurassic World would be shipped to Honolulu where Dougherty would help reassemble this enormous dino.

At StudioADI, Adam Dougherty handcrafted the trophy blade for Dr. Florence Weaver, the ultimate in narrative prop payoff as the set dressing became the malevolent award wielded by the vicious murderer in James Wan’s highly regarded crime thriller Malignant.

Sculpting the primary concept design for the terrifying King Ghidorah and Matronly Mothra in small scale, these traditionally sculpted pieces served as a conceptual aid for Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King Of Monsters (2019).

Building a belly that kicks off each and every episode of the short lived hit Clarence, KreatureKid made the tangible tummy of the title character out of silicone, hand sculpted to match the tone of the show and fit for compositing title text for the opening credits.

Crafting multiple makeups for this 2019 Shudder original, Adam Dougherty helped ignite the fiery skin that engulfed both Chris Lew Kum Hoi and Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, as well as the battered and frightfully possessed Alix Angelis in Damien LeVeck’s The Cleansing Hour. Serving as both makeup artist and puppeteer, Dougherty also controlled the hatching of the devil for a portion of the film.

Adam Dougherty helped to create the creepy crawly critter in Dead & Breakfast/Pesticide, the second episode of the season two of the Shudder original show Creepshow. Additionally, he assisted with components of the large alien in season 2 episode 3 The Right Snuff/Sibling Rivalry and the sink blob in season 2 episode 4 - Pipe Screams/Within The Walls of Madness. Working with industry mainstays KNB EFX, Dougherty gave spine tingling realism to larger than life scares that will continue to fill fans with fear.

In the most harrowing climactic scene in the 2013 film adaptation of Ender’s Game, the Hive Queen’s lifeless eggs, devoid of viability but linked to her singular hope, were fractured and painted by Adam Dougherty during his time working at StudioADI. These eggs were expertly dismantled by Dougherty, bringing the devastation of the Hive Queen into heartbreaking vision on screen.

Creating something totally out of this world, Adam Dougherty helped craft the interior of the alien ship for the revival of a 90s classic in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). Sculpting and painting the seats for Liam Hemsworth, Travis Tope, Jessie T. Usher, and Angelababy as they fought the alien invasion, Dougherty helped to create a ship unlike any other.

Expertly crafting the bone chilling reveal of a deceased nun, Adam Dougherty and others at StudioADI brought divine fear to the silver screen in the 2018 Conjuring series’ follow-up hit The Nun. One of the most rattling jumpscares in the film, their work brought shocks and screams to theaters and homes around the world.

Sculpting the frightening visage of a bride whose life was ended by her betrothed and the withered, aging skin of a mortician plagued by peculiar and macabre tales, Adam Dougherty’s work became the makeup application worn by Sarah Hay and Clancy Brown in Ryan Spindell’sThe Mortuary Collection. 

Blending the worlds of miniatures and prop making, the foreboding figurine and early phases of the doll that brought terror to the southern california town were lovingly pieced together by Adam Dougherty during his time at StudioADI for Annabelle Creation (2017).

Traditionally sculpting the ghostly bust of Father Morrissey that haunted the halls in Annabelle Comes Home (2019), Adam Dougherty and the team at StudioADI brought the ominous golden statue into reality. One of the first scares of the film, that bust burns an image into the brain of viewers for years to come.

Commissioned with the task of digitally sculpting and 3D printing the whimsical rodents in 2021’s Cinderella, Adam Dougherty and the team at StudioADI provided lifelike facsimiles of the trio of magical mice for the VFX team to adapt.

Sculpting a set of teeth for the bone chilling, shapeshifting, clown Pennywise, wearables for a Paramount Pictures pop up haunted house to promote It (2017), and using original appliances and life cast to sculpt a sinister bust for the StudioADI display room, Adam Dougherty helped cement Pennywise as a mainstay of fear for an entirely new generation.

Helping to craft an orcish reality, Adam Dougherty, along with the team at StudioADI helped manufacture a plethora of unique orc masks, custom to the alternate reality within the 2017 David Ayer fantasy film Bright.

Sculpting the beautiful maquettes that served as a base for the reptilian Klum, Adam Dougherty gave menace to the alien invaders featured in the Oats Studios short film Rakka by legendary South African director Neill Blomkamp.

Using his 3D printing prowess, Adam Dougherty assisted KNB EFX with printing the 3D models that would be used as a practical onset reference for the VFX team, aiding in the creation of the creepy critters from the 2021 fantasy film Nightbooks.

Recreating the outdoors with excellence, both in anthropomorphized forest scenes and intricate background foliage that will never die. These large panel puppets fit with mechanized eyes and puppetable lips blend seamlessly into a composite image - taken from concept to completion by our team.
